Derek worked as a Firefighter and paramedic with the Dublin Fire Rescue and Ambulance service for
twenty years. After he retired from the Fire Service he set up AMEC SAFETY TRAINING LTD drawing
on his experiences and skills required working on the front line he was able to bring a realistic and
practical approach to the classroom. Derek is qualified PHECC FAR Instructor and Cardiac First
Response Advanced Instructor Irish Hear Foundation BLS HCP Instructor, QQI Level 6 Manual
Handling and Patient Handling Instructor, Fire Safety Instructor; He also is a qualified Sports Massage
Therapist which gives him a great insight into sports Injuries and specialise in Sports Fist Aid.
